Description: 

Objectives: The project aimed to assess and report on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on gender-based violence within the areas covered by the KIA-funded project. Specifically, the study sought to review project performance, gain insights into project operations, ensure efficient and cost-effective project delivery and management, examine implementation processes in the coastal context, and determine the extent of results achieved, with a focus on addressing gender-based violence in the context of the pandemic.

Location: Teknaf and Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Duration of Assignment: 2 months (October 2020 – November 2020)

Narrative Description of Project: The primary objective of the project was to conduct an assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on gender-based violence within the areas covered by the KIA-funded project. This assessment aimed to provide valuable insights into project operations and delivery, assess the efficiency of implementation processes in coastal areas, and evaluate the extent of results achieved in addressing gender-based violence during the pandemic. The study played a crucial role in understanding the challenges and dynamics of gender-based violence exacerbated by the COVID-19 crisis.

Description of Actual Services Provided by AIRD:

  • Conducted primary and secondary data collection to gather information on the impact of COVID-19 on gender-based violence.
  • Engaged in data entry and analysis to assess the project’s progress and effectiveness in addressing gender-based violence in the context of the pandemic.
  • Conducted an impact evaluation of the project to understand its outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Provided recommendations based on the findings to support the project’s improvement in addressing gender-based violence in the context of COVID-19.
