Objectives:

The study aims to understand climate-induced migration in Bangladesh, identify barriers to reintegration, assess government and private sector responses, and evaluate stakeholder coordination, providing recommendations to improve displacement management and strengthen urban resilience in cities like Dhaka.

Location: Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Jhalokathi, Mymensingh, Netrokona, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Sunamganj

Duration: 4 months 12 days (18th April 2023 to 31st August 2023)

Narrative description: The study explores climate-induced migration in Bangladesh, where floods, cyclones, river erosion, and salinity are displacing millions. It examines why affected populations cannot return home and how government and private sector actors provide shelter, livelihoods, and essential services. The research also assesses coordination among stakeholders to strengthen urban emergency preparedness and response, especially in Dhaka.
