Objectives: The project aimed to address the emergency needs of health, water, sanitation, and protection for both Rohingya refugees and the local host community in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The primary goals were to reduce mortality and morbidity associated with the COVID-19 outbreak, strengthen the health system’s resilience to cope with COVID-19, particularly in the context of Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH), and address protection concerns of individuals affected by COVID-19.

Narrative Description of Project: IRC was implementing a Rohingya Emergency Response Program in collaboration with various donors to improve health, nutrition, livelihood, and protection services for both Rohingya refugees and the local population in Cox’s Bazar. Under this program, IRC initiated the project titled “Addressing Host-Community’s Emergency Needs of Health, WASH, and Protection due to COVID-19 in Underserved Areas of Cox’s Bazar.” The project aimed to address the urgent needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic by providing treatment and prevention activities, strengthening the health system’s capacity to respond to COVID-19, with a focus on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH), and addressing protection concerns among those affected by COVID-19.
Description of Actual Services Provided by AIRD:
- Prepared an inception report outlining the project’s methodology and approach.
- Developed questionnaires and conducted both primary and secondary data collection.
- Managed data entry and analysis to assess the impact of project activities.
- Monitored the project to ensure its effective implementation.
- Produced a comprehensive report summarizing the project’s findings and outcomes.
