Description: 

Objectives: The project’s goal was to assess traffic congestion at three critical intersections in Dhaka city: Shishu Mela, Mirpur-10, and Mazar Road. The study aimed to identify the causes of traffic jams, gather in-depth knowledge, and propose solutions to alleviate congestion. The key findings highlighted the need for skilled traffic police, increased public awareness, and road improvements. Recommendations included optimizing traffic light management, using CCTV for monitoring road conditions, enforcing existing road traffic laws, improving perceptions of buses, and introducing separate lanes for rickshaws.

Location: Dhaka city, Bangladesh (Shishu Mela, Mirpur-10, Mazar Road)

Duration of Assignment: 4 months (September 2021 – December 2021)

Narrative Description of Project: The project conducted a qualitative survey to gain in-depth knowledge of the actual causes of traffic jams at the specified intersections in Dhaka city. The survey identified key issues and proposed solutions to reduce traffic congestion. These solutions included improving traffic management, public awareness, and road infrastructure.

Description of Actual Services Provided by AIRD: Associates for Innovative Research and Developments (AIRD) provided various services for this project, including Primary Data Collection, Secondary Data Collection, Data Entry and Analysis, and generating Recommendations to alleviate traffic congestion at the specified intersections.
