Description: 

Objectives: The objective of the project was to conduct a crime victimization survey in selected urban areas of Bangladesh. The survey aimed to determine the victimization rate, estimate the “dark figure” of crime (unreported or undisclosed crimes), and assess the prevalence of various types of crimes in the chosen urban areas.

Location: The survey was conducted in 12 City Corporation areas and 2 Municipality Areas, specifically in Tangail and Bogura, Bangladesh.

Duration of Assignment: 12 months (July 2018 – June 2019)

Narrative Description of Project: The project involved conducting a comprehensive crime victimization survey in selected urban areas of Bangladesh. The primary objective was to assess the extent of crime victimization in these areas, including both reported and unreported crimes. The survey aimed to estimate the victimization rate, shedding light on crimes that might not have been officially reported to the authorities, thus contributing to a better understanding of the “dark figure” of crime. By collecting and analyzing primary and secondary data, the project aimed to provide valuable insights into the prevalence of various types of crimes in the urban areas under study.
